Las Vegas Home Buying
Jul 18, 2020
While looking for a home in Las Vegas for my parents I noticed some horrific Vegas trends. Let me go out in a limb here and say people who design homes in Las Vegas have horrible taste for the most part.
- Travertine tile is gross, like the glass bricks and gas fireplaces.
- Not every room needs a mini fridge.
- Why do some three bedroom homes have two dishwashers?
- Tuscany style is the Olive Garden. Fake Italian for fake people.
- Five bedroom homes sound impressive but they are super tiny.
- Inset coves for art is dated and never looked good.
- Basically all wood cabinet faces with a panel and arch at the top look a decade older than they are.
- Gold. No. Never. Especially not on fixtures.
- 1970s science fiction hanging light globes that are silver on top and glass on the bottom.
- Two car garages are one and a half.
- The more bedrooms, the smaller the kitchen.
- Too many eating spaces; formal dining, kitchen island, breakfast table.
- The horrible use of certain countertops that look like an LA County courthouse floor, pierdrafina granite I believe it is called.
- Hexagonal tiles are overly common.
- Tiny 1" square shower tiles like a public restroom.
On the flipside, Toll Brothers and Blue Heron make some jaw-dropping homes. If you find yourself wanting to see what is being built there for fun or for your own use, follow Chakits Krulsawat, he is super intuitive and taught me a ton about home buying, not to mention he is pretty funny.
Best I’ve seen:
