Funny thing about that, I helped rebuild the ad words and keyword planner as a contractor. My code went into production. But in order to go from being a contractor that was delivering production level code to become an actual employee, I would have to sit through 8 weeks of interviews. There is no such thing as meritocracy in coding, get out while you can, long before you are jaded like me.
